From the first of January 2009 we will see the demise of the old and new Australian pubs as we knew them, the money hungry Qld State Gov is now attacking the time honoured right of every Aussie to get into a good old pub brawl.
Worse than that the poor old publican will wear huge fines for his patrons disorderly conduct by way of Government applied fines that will be added to his liquor licence on renewal, as much as $30,000 at a time, I don’t believe this is Australian at all, in fact I think it stinks, the publicans are struggling to make a living at the moment as it is.
The Bligh government have the knives out for anyone she or her bureaucracy think might be making a bit of money, the rural sector the trucking industry and now the pubs, how low can they get?.
We are seeing the role of the Environmental Protection Agency being moved to the local authorities now your local council can set the environmental charge at whatever level they see fit and if you’re at odds with your council you may as well sell up; the formula for these charges never indicates how that money is spent in terms of a program to improve the environment and how they arrived at the massive increases about to be applied.
Then we have the swimming pool owners facing more regulation and bureaucratic policing of your pool fencing and safety procedures, again big fines for people not complying or worse still being victimized for trivial non-conformances, again a hit on people they think can afford it, another money grab.
What's wrong with this country, if you’re successful, you’ll pay by some means or another for that success and the Government don’t care how much you went without or how hard you worked to acquire the benefits you enjoy, it’s no wonder the dole queue is growing daily, there is no incentive to work anymore.
Australia is now in the grip of an economic recession and raising money will be the only focus all our Governments will have, instead of pumping money into a 'fat cat' banking sector to ensure that their shareholders get a dividend , or giving one off handouts to sections of the community that can only be spent once then it’s gone, we should be building water infrastructure to irrigate the vast downs country and give this country something to fall back on when the mining boom is over.
Australia should be the ‘food bowl’ of the Asian Pacific region and possibly beyond, as the world population continues to grow food will be more important that minerals and if we don’t capitalise on our small population and large farmable land mass then someone else will.
The push to have all the people living on the coast is the stupidest Government policy you could imagine, we need to relocate manufacturing to the rural areas and build large regional cities that will protect Australia in the event of a massive natural disaster like a tsunami or earthquake, we need to spread the population to take the pressure off the environment in coastal regions, it’s just plain common sense.
Wake up Australia you need the Southern Cross Party now more than ever, we need people and money if we are going to turn this country around and be a major player on the world scene, it’s our turn to be the economic power house of the world let’s stop everyone else raping this country and take control, our freedom now is at stake.
